 Dr. JIM OTTEN
Joint Based Occlusion
This bonus members webinar will be presented by Dr. Jim Otten.

The topic of occlusion can often be confusing, depending on the knowledge, experience and perspective of the practitioner. There are however, more specific ways to evaluate the occlusion, specifically stability of the joint level, than can make our dentistry more predictable, stable and more rewarding for the both the patient and the practitioner.

The philosophy of joint based occlusion allows us to understand the system at a foundational level, the temporomandibular joint. Understanding how to evaluate joint stability through a comprehensive diagnostic approach, as well as being able to assess risk and identifying the therapeutic options for the patients, are vital for the success of patient care.

Dr. Otten will take a deep dive into anatomy, physiology, and pathology so we can assess the entire stomatognathic system and provide life changing care for whole person health.
BONUS MEMBERS WEBINAR:
Myofunctional Therapy as a Global Diagnosis Treatment Tool with
Dr. Bill Robbins on April 23, 2024
This bonus members webinar will be presented by Dr J. William Robbins on April 23, 2024.

Myofunctional Therapy has been available for many decades; however, it has only been used sparingly until recently. Today it is well known that oral dysfunction has a significant impact on interdisciplinary dental treatment and relapse.
This bonus module will teach the importance of the myofunctional therapist on the interdisciplinary team and the “Why” and “How” of Myofunctional Therapy.
Dr. Robbins will discuss the cultural trends that impact oral dysfunction. We will then teach the results of these trends, including, airway deficiencies, tongue posture, tongue tie, and transverse maxillary deficiency. Finally Dr. Robbins will teach strategies and exercises to correct these oral dysfunctions. This bonus will be of great interest to all members of the team, including, dental hygienists, dental assistants, administrative personnel, and family members.
Masterclass Members will learn:
-    History of oral-facial dysfunction
-    Growth and development
-    Importance of early diagnosis and treatment
-    Nasal breathing and lip competence
-    Tongue posture
-    Diagnosis and treatment of tongue tie
-    Swallowing patterns
-    MFT treatment strategies and exercises
 GDM TRAINING MODULES
Module One: Global Diagnosis – The Esthetic Parameters
In order to put the Global Diagnosis puzzle together, we must first understand the pieces of the puzzle.

This module will teach you the macro view of the patient by evaluating the face and the lips, including lip dynamics and treatment options. Dr. Robbins will then take an in-depth look at the facebow and the articulator and discuss the short comings of the traditional instrumentation. We will then make recommendations for more user friendly devices.

Next we move into the mouth and evaluate the teeth and 3 reasons for short or small teeth. A primary focus in this module will be esthetic crown lengthening and the sequencing of the surgery with restorative dentistry

Module 1: Global Diagnosis – The Esthetic Parameters is posted to the Global Diagnosis Masterclass online portal.
Module Two: Global Diagnosis And Dentoalveolar Extrusion (DAE)
The Most Difficult Patient In Dentistry
The primary emphasis for this module will be teaching a systematic approach to full mouth rehabilitation that can be accomplished by the general dentist. This will include phasing Full Mouth Rehabilitation Cases. This is very valuable training for restorative dentists and their patients!

Dentoaveolar extrusion means that the teeth have supererupted for one of three reasons that will be taught to Masterclass members. As the teeth supererupt, they bring the alveolar bone and soft tissue with them, resulting in a curved rather a straight gingival line in relation to horizon. Once this occurs not only are the teeth in the incorrect positions, but also the alveolar bone and the gingiva. In this module Dr. Robbins will teach 6 of the 9 treatment options for DAE.

Module 2: Global Diagnosis and Dentoalveolar Extrusion (DAE) - The Most Difficult Patient In Dentistry is posted to the Global Diagnosis Masterclass online portal.
Module Three: Global Diagnosis -  Treatment of DAE the “New Way”
In this module Dr. Robbins will teach a traditional method of treating DAE, functional crown lengthening. The advantages and disadvantages of this treatment will be discussed. The emphasis in this module will be  the “New Way” of treating DAE with orthodontic intrusion and expansion. The final “treatment” option for treating DAE is preventing it from happening in the formative years. Dr. Robbins will then discuss the diagnosis and treatment of skeletal discrepancies. Finally, in this module we will present the “5 CORE Questions” which are used to make a Global Diagnosis on your patient.

Module 3: Global Diagnosis -  Treatment of DAE the “New Way” is posted to the Global Diagnosis Masterclass online portal.
Module Four: Global Diagnosis and Digital Smile Design (DSD) a New Synergy
One of the most exciting new technologies in the diagnostic arena is digital smile design (DSD). In this module Dr. Robbins will discuss the many advantages of DSD, and teach you how to implement DSD into your practice. One of the greatest of all patient communication tools is the motivational mock-up. We will demonstrate the “how” to do the motivational mockup and the “why” it should be a tool in your practice.
Masterclass Members will learn:
-    Review of Global Diagnosis principles and DSD
-    How to implement DSD into your practice
-    Required photos and scans
-    The power of the Motivational Mock-up
-    Case presentation using Global Diagnosis and DSD

Module 4: Global Diagnosis and Digital Smile Design (DSD) a New Synergy is posted to the Global Diagnosis Masterclass online portal.

Module Five: Global Esthetic Crown Lengthening (ECL)– A Clinical Course
This is a how-to course for the clinician who wants to implement ECL into their clinical practice. In order provide this treatment, the dentist must first understand how to diagnose altered passive eruption. In addition it is imperative that the dentist also understand a current view of biologic width (supracrestal attachment).

Dr. Robbins will teach the surgical technique in detail from the initial incision to the final suture. There will also be a discussion of failures with strategies to aid the surgeon in avoiding these pitfalls.
Masterclass Members will learn:
-   Diagnosis of altered passive eruption
-   A new look at “Biologic Width” (Supracrestal Attachment)
-   Surgical instrumentation
-   Initial incisions, flap design
-   Ostectomy technique
-   Suturing
-   Failures and their causes
Clinical case presentations will be used along with videos to teach this module so members can add this procedure to their practices right away.

Module 5: Global Esthetic Crown Lengthening (ECL)– A Clinical Course is posted to the Global Diagnosis Masterclass online portal.

 Membership Bonus Package
BONUS 1:  Orthodontic Management of the Missing Anterior Tooth with
Dr. Robert “Tito” Norris
WEBINAR REPLAY
This bonus members webinar will be presented by Dr. Robert “Tito” Norris.

The traditional method of managing the missing maxillary anterior tooth is to replace it with an implant. However, there are significant disadvantages to this strategy. It is impossible to know if growth is complete which can result in coronal movement of the teeth adjacent to the implants. There are additional problems associated with implant placement including, thinning of tissue over the implant, mechanical failure, and peri-implantitis. There are several time proven techniques for tooth replacement which don’t involve implant placement. These include, a bonded bridge, canine substitution, and autotransplantation. Each of these treatments will be discussed with an emphasis on techniques which will help to insure long-term success.
Masterclass Members will learn:
-       Discussion of reasons for implant failure
-       Indications and technical features of the bonded zirconia bridge
-       Indications and technical features of canine substitution
-       Indications and technical features of autotransplantation
